Re: What software to extract subtitles?
Do you need to extract the subtitles? Or would you be happy to trim and edit your recordings while keeping the embedded subtitle stream within the video files. If the latter, then I've been using Lossless Cut for a while and I asked the author a while ago to include the subtitle stream when cutting ...

Re: Video cutting software for Linux
Since I posted this I've discovered Lossless Cut at https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut/releases
Many thanks to the author for this piece of software. It didn't support DVB T subtitles for ages but the author fixed this in February this year so this now meets my needs.

Re: Remote shutdown and restart
Well I never! I could have sworn I'd just tried that earlier without success.
Anyway I pasted it from your suggestion and it worked! Must have made a typo or something earlier.
Many thanks!

Re: Remote shutdown and restart
I've just update my firmware and discovered the issue with restarting. Thanks to cubimol for posting the new Restart command here. Can anyone help with the new shutdown command please? I have scripts for both (for the old firmware) but haven't worked how to shutdown the Vboxusing the new commands ye...

Re: Unable to update XTi3442 software VJ.2.59
Hmm, well the stupid stupid system now won't let me restore my old backup! What's the bloody point of a backup if you can't restore it! Good thing I had some screenshots too but it still takes ages to do all the scanning, deleting of rubbish shopping channels, icon matching, EPG channel matching for...

Re: Unable to update XTi3442 software VJ.2.59
Same problem. My box had only been up an hour (my scheduled restart) but wouldn't update. So, I restarted it manually and then it accepted the downloaded file and updated. Be warned, the update wipes your system of all the channels, network storage, etc. A right pain to set up again. I'm glad I took...

Re: Vbox TV gateway app very unstable on ipad.
I'll echo that - Android version not really consumer ready at all. Fine for techies but not "normal" people. Quite apart from the bugs it launches straight into a TV channel when sometimes all I want to do is check the EPG so anyone else nearby can hear the noise of the TV channel. Sometimes I just ...

Re: unable to remove some channels
You can't delete channels (annoyingly). All you can do is deselect them by unticking the box. If you then want to only see these channels you need to tick the box at the top of the page that says "Display only selected channels". Several people have asked for the option to remove channels completely...

Re: vlc from command line
Interesting. Afraid I can't help with Windows, but from my Ubuntu PC, I opened up the ChannelList.m3u file in a text editor to find out the URL for a couple of channels. Then, from a terminal I typed: vlc "http://192.168.178.80:55555/ITV" vlc "http://192.168.178.80:55555/BBC%20ONE%20HD" I had wonder...

Re: Best device for UK HD Channels
I have a Raspberry Pi 3 running OSMC (an excellent Kodi distro). This seems to work fine for watching BBC, ITV, C4 &5 HD channels live and recorded using the Vbox. You seem to have to use channel matching, which is a right pain, to get the EPG but it's better than nothing. The Pi is plugged in to an...
