Re: The next vbox
The next box needs improved software. The hardware is not the 'added value' when a Raspberry pi with a single tuner costs £30 (see the TV HAT https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspberry-pi-tv-hat ). The current software is reasonable, for a techie, but has some rough edges and development is very slo...

Re: Filesystem ExFAT
exFAT has patents and requires a license to use. See https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/legal/i ... nsing.aspx
Even larger organisations, such as QNAP, get you to pay for it if you want it... so don't see vbox getting support any time soon.

Re: USB HDD or NAS?
I've been using a NAS as it also hosts my media server (so I can have the tv recordings in the same library as my music). This works for that but if the vbox loses the connection somehow (NAS reboot) you get no warning and will miss recordings. I'd be tempted to try with a usb drive directly attache...

Re: Upload bandwidth requirements
The bandwidth will depend on the channel... a HD channel will require more than SD but also different broadcasters will have different encoders and quality settings. I bumped into an article about freeview HD from 2010 where recordings averaged 3gb per hour, although some programs went up to 4gb for...

Re: Plex
I am not familiar with plex, but there are two main reasons why you might want a VPN (regardless of Plex). 1) Be able to fool geo-restricted sites to think you are accessing from a country that differs from your physical one. So if you are on holiday in Spain and wanted to stream BBC iPlayer, which ...

Re: Cast recording or live tv to a device
Still not working for me :-( I have submitted a few crash reports. Looking at the stack trace it is sending you, it complains about "Scheme 'https' not registered." I presume it is still working for somebody? I am on a Nexus 5 phone with Android 6.0.1 and all recent updates... perhaps something on t...

Re: Cast recording or live tv to a device
Not convince it is an SSDP problem... the native app did appear to find the device, just crashed when trying to access it. I'll try power cycling my phone, to give it the best chance. Would you really expect the app to crash just because it can't find a device?

Re: Cast recording or live tv to a device
I can't think of anything that changed. I tried forcing the applications to stop and cleared all data. The native app got slightly further, briefly displaying the name of the vbox device, before crashing. I did send a couple of crash reports which I think you should be able to see via the google dev...

Re: Cast recording or live tv to a device
Neither android app is working for me today - both crashing when I open them, so I can't check that right now. Will do when they next want to work.

Re: Problem with GetRecordsList
I can confirm that removing the duplicates of the failed recordings brings the size of the recordings.xml file down to ~45kb (677 lines) and is now returned via GetRecordsList.
