Software letdown

Post by poshpantspaddy » Fri Mar 30, 2018 9:42 am

I completed the quick setup and everything seemed promising but...

Android TV app (both Sony and Nvidia Shield)
Vbox is identified but it will not run when selected so I have to enter the IP address manually every time
Running the EPG crashes the app every time on both Android TV devices

Android App (pink version)
Same issues as above

Apple App
Even worse, slow clunky, freezes

Web Access
No sound

I hope you can offer some advice

I can recommend either IPTV or Perfect Player for Android.

I gave up with the Vbox app on android, it just never worked.

Perfect Player gives you a more set top box feel to it and has an easy to navigate epg which you can set up yourself to download from your favourite epg source.
IPTV is good it you just want to watch channels and not to bothered about an epg.It does have epg functions but its not as easy to find or use.
I have found IPTV is better for those of a non technical persuasion, like my wife or mum :) .

If you have Android TV you should check out their live channels app.

having tried to like the box I find that although I have created shares and everything else so that the files are visible on my network and checking them from other machines the V Box (satellite and terrestial) still can't access the epg files and them find them. This is on the manual setting as the so called wizard just produces a blank box.

I was advised eventually by support that the files are limited to 50mb which is smaller than those produced by Schedules Direct but not by XMLTV (uk). Every time I try and put the file in the manual box I get a: Host is down: Mount error (112) message which I believe is a Linux error which relates to a Windows patch. The xml file works and I have been in contact many times to support who still maintain that it works.

After spending ages sorting out the channels - which took me days and was mainly done using an offsite file - this is the last straw and have given up with the box. To my mind a potentially nice product let down by the software.

I seemed to have flagged the issue about Windows 10 as I spent three hours having my machine tweeked remotely. From a Google search I was aware that this might have been a Windows patch issue and am glad that this has now been advised to box users. My machine no longer says Host error but I am still struggling.
