DVB-T2 in Germany?

Hello,

I am interested in buying the terrestrial version of the VBox to use with DVB-T2 in the near future. However, I can find no information on whether it will work in Germany. DVB-T2 over here is special in that it uses a different Codec (HEVC aka h.265) than most other countries.

Is it necessary for the VBox to support a certain codec at all? As I understand it, the box will merely stream or record the content, not decode it?

Thanks in advance,
Mirko

Hi Mirko,
You are absolutely correct, the VBox keeps the original broadcasted encoding
Therefore the VBox supports any encoding standard including HEVC H.265

I recently received my XTI-3442, and no problem with DVB-T2/HEVC for the free German channels.

Does XTi-3342 supports HEVC too? I'm not able to tune DVB-T2 channels (XTI_VB.2.57). Different TV on the same antene works good with DVB-T2.

Hi @stealthx
I suggest that you will contact VBox support to receive the latest FW version
As to HEVC - the VBox streams the original encoding, so it is up to the player to support HEVC, I recommend trying Kodi which have a wide codec support http://www.vboxcomm.com/how-to-setup-vb ... ypton.html

Thank you, now VBox (XTI_VB.2.58.2) is able to tune DVB-T2. It seems that PRi3 isn't powerful enough to play HEVC. It starts playing and after few sec is LibreELEC restarted.

This could very well be the case, German HD channels have very high bit rate and require strong hardware to play
