Use Recordings Offline

Looking to purchase a Vbox but my main purpose is to record TV, copy the recordings to a Tablet (Android) and then watch offline.

Can someone please let me know if this is possible, if so what format are the recordings in and do you need any special software to play them?

many thanks in advance.

Mark

Hi Mark,
Yes you can copy the recordings to your tablet for offline viewing
The recordings are in mpg and encoded in the original broadcasted encoding

You can use the VBox Live TV app (legacy) to easily copy the recordings, or simply copy the files to your tablet and use your preferred player

If you can get the grey VBox Live TV app (legacy) to work! Seems very buggy to me on the several Android phones/tablets that I've tried.

Not quite sure why this one is promoted as the "pink" one seems to work so much better on phones and tablets, even though the notes say it's for tablets only.

Hi @tarmacalastair
Thank you for this feedback
the "Pink" app is a native Android app and should work better than the Gray app,
Both apps have different UI and while the Gray app only supports touch devices the Pink app supports touch and remote devices.

If you like the Gray app - I suggest that you will try to play with the Gray app player settings - by going to Settings - General - Hardware acceleration options and try to change the settings see if it helps stabilizing the app
Also you may want to clear that app cache and data
