2016 Samsung TV with Tizen OS

Post by mattmarsden » Thu Jun 01, 2017 8:19 am

What are my options for viewing on a Samsung Tizen TV? I noticed mention of an app thats for Samsung TVs from 2014 onwards but I couldnt find it on my TV. There is an app called IPTV - would that work or am I best off using DLNA?

You should be able to see the VBox in the TV's source list
Select the VBox TV Gateway and go to the Live TV folder to see the channel list or Media folder for the recordings

That seems to work fine, but a bit clunky - are there any plans for a native Tizen VBox app?

Yes, it's on the works but we don't have a release date for it yet.

And what about older Samsung TV? I've got an 2012 Samsung SmartTV (UPnP capable, ES7090 Series), I can select the chanel in Samsung Link, but the stream is not displayed (format not supported). It seems, that the box is sending a codec the Samsung TV does not understand.

We do have a non Tizen app for older Samsung Smart TV - to get it please contact the VBox on the support form
- However as the VBox stream in full broadcast quality old smart TVs are not strong enough to process this feed
You can try, but I cannot guarantee that it will work well
