Re: Upload bandwidth requirements

Assuming you are streaming only one channel, you need anywhere up to 6Mbit/s depending on channel.
This from your brother's perspective, will come from his Broadband Upload speed. What ever the Upload speed is, it gets shared amongst all users (unless traffic priorities have been set).

Re: EPG data for UK Freesat channels

Hi Marcus, You can do either. In your case, it is simpler just put it in XMLTV Network URL I tend to download to storage, as it makes debug easier and limits load on www.xmltv.co.uk server when debugging. Edit: I have two VBoxes, and other boxes, so I download only once, and then share across my box...

Re: EPG data for UK Freesat channels

Here is a free source of external data for UK Freesat (and Freeview) http://www.xmltv.co.uk/feeds From a quick look at the data for the 7 day feed, it is quite limited e.g. no series support. The other feeds up to and including 72 hours are better. Note I have no idea where xmltv.co.uk get its data ...

Re: Factory Reset

Just a long shot, if the original user just enabled protection without actually changing user or password.

Try logging in with the default user admin and password admin

Re: TV on home network.

I have an XTI 3340 (label on the unit), the actual hardware is (from the status screen) shows: Hardware Revision H0 Manufacture ID 0827 Product Number 3345 Product Name 3345-21 It has 1 x DVB-S, 1 x DVB-S/S2, 2 x DVB-T tuners. so no Freeview HD. I believe VBOX "refreshed" the 3340 to upgrade DVB-T t...

I have a 3442 running VJ 2.57, cold boot time approximately 1 minute, restart time less than 2 minutes.
You updated from previous fw or 2.57 was out of the box?
Upgraded from VJ2.56.

Re: Quick Guide for V@Box with Mythtv

No it is not common, the recent changes in master were very minor and were not in any VBox related area. Did you check Tuner Status in mythfrontend, if it showed "Errored" it means a network communication problem with the VBox. There is an issue with Ubuntu 16.04 with networking not being fully esta...

Re: Better Over the air EPG support

I note that EPG Collector (version 4.3 Fixpack 8) http://sourceforge.net/projects/epgcollector/ now supports creation of xmltv data directly from VBoxes. I presume this has been done to partially overcome the problem of EIT (OTA) data in certain countries using Huffman compression e.g. UK Freeview a...
